The NetWits is the brain child of Keith MacDonald, who organized us on a July 4 weekend in 1999. Billed as the meetinghouse of the Internet’s funniest humor columnists, we post our newspaper and Internet columns on this blog, as a way to showcase our talent.
We’re over 150 members strong, with newspaper columnists, bloggers, magazine writers, and book authors from all over the world. From Ben Baker and Angela Gillaspie in the Deep South, to Dorothy Rosby in South Dakota, all the way over to Roberta Beach Jacobsen in the Greek Isles and Cameron Koo in Australia.
We have such august members as Bruce Cameron (author of the now-famous 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, Anna Lefler (author of The Chicktionary), Rose Valenta (author of Sitting on Cold Porcelain) and Erik Deckers, author of No Bullshit Social Media: The All-Business, No Hype Guide for Social Media Marketing. We even had Red Green from PBS’ The Red Green Show, but he’s not returning our calls anymore.
No slouches in the book authoring department, we even have our own book, which founder Keith MacDonald published back in 2000.
We actually review membership for all applicants, and only allow established or burgeoning humor writers. Not just people who forward funny emails (because they’re not), or who can tell a funny joke (they’re not either).
If you are interested in joining the NetWits, please visit our Yahoo group and submit an application.
