These are the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) that new NetWits members often ask.
We thought it would be much easier to list the answers here before you have to ask or become hopelessly lost.
So here they are:

Question #1: I'm a new member. What do I do now?
The first thing you should do is read some of the member messages, or "posts" that you will receive from NetWits@YahooGroups. Be sure to add the address to your address book, or simply reply to any post and type in your message.
We encourage you to introduce yourself.
We encourage you to post a sample column.
We encourage you to floss daily.
Question #2: How do I get my name on the NetWits home page?
Email Paul at paul@paulsfunhouse.com and give him a bio, your picture and a column to post. This information can be sent as a text file.
Question #3: What do I do when I have an announcement?
When you've been published, have a birthday, a new column, a new family member, or have made parole, please feel free to let us know. Announce it to the list at YahooGroups!
Question #4: How do I familiarize myself with the other Net Wits members?
Read this website, join the Yahoo Group and just be a part of our community!
Question #5: How do I get my bio on the Netwits Website?
Can't you read ...go back to question #2!

Question #8: Can the NetWits help me with my writing aspirations and career development?
Using the NetWits Organization on a resume can't hurt.
Question #9: This list is ridiculous! I have several more questions! Are you ALWAYS this vague?
We will assign a mentor to new members if requested. Rather than accepting that "lost" feeling, just email the owners: Netwits-owner@yahoogroups.com and they'll gladly assign a mentor to you.
Question #10:My mailbox is overloaded with email! Sadly, I'm going to have to quit the NetWits!
Whoa there, lil' filly! No need to quit!
Just go back to the NetWits at YahooGroups, log-in, and change your mail status to "Daily Digest."
It's THAT easy!
We've actually had people quit because they had to go on vacation and they thought their hard drives would explode.
No problem. While on vacation, simply set your mail status at YahooGroups to "Web Only/No Mail"
Ta-daaaa! No mail while you're gone.
Easy? We think so.

The following is a list of the rules, just in case you forgot:
FIRST and FOREMOST: We are all WRITERS. I ask that you uphold an attitude of mutual respect for each other. New writers should respect the older, or more experienced writers, and the more experienced writers should try to remember that they were there once. We will no longer tolerate those who do not uphold an attitude of mutual respect. Members have been removed- their bodies were never found.
- The list owner and its moderators will act in the best interest of the community. This benefits all members.
- Posts should be "ON-TOPIC", meaning that you shouldn't post how much you love Crackie, er... Whitney Houston. Try to stay on the topic of writing humor columns and the business thereof.
- Whenever possible, keep personal posts private by e-mailing the individual you wish to address. If a person requests private responses to his/her post, please respect that request.
- Please do NOT post jokes or anecdotes that have been circulating the Net. We all get these-- this is NOT the forum to share them.
- Do not post any attempt to sell, or "spam", fellow subscribers. This will not be tolerated.
- Columnists who publish books, magazine articles, or other amazing feats are allowed to
- Post an announcement to the group and direct members to the source.
- Have a signature line of one (1) line that informs fellow members how to access the work.
- Make an announcement on the message boards and NEWS PAGE at the Net Wits Website.
- We are NOT a "flame-free" List, however, if a member seems to be more volatile than others, we may review his/her archived posts and, without warning, set his or her posts on REVIEW. This means that their posts will have to be approved before they can be posted onto the list. Continued flaming will result in removal from the list.
- Complaints about list members should be sent privately to the listowner: Netwits-owner@yahoogroups.com
- Subscribers who bait themselves into a flammable situation will receive no sympathy from the moderators.
- We DO NOT CENSOR. If you are transferred to Review Status, you will be informed as such.
- Try to stay on-topic when you respond to a certain subject TITLE or "thread".
In other words, if a topic subject is "Agents", do not change the topic to "The Greater Duluth MN Cheese Fair". Give your thread a new, appropriate title.
- DO NOT CUT & PASTE ENTIRE POSTS into your replies. Use only the portion(s) that you are responding to. DO NOT just hit "REPLY" and start typing! (Or we will all be forced to chip-in for a hired gun to pay you a little visit.)
- Remember that your fellow subscribers are posting their columns for your enjoyment, critique, and recognition. If you want to forward any of these columns to others PLEASE ASK FOR THE AUTHOR'S PERMISSION.
- If an author gives permission within his or her column submission, PLEASE be sure to include the author credit (by line) and copyright date when you forward it.
- If you use signature lines, they should be kept as short as possible. (3-4 lines?)
We realize many of you have multiple sources for your work, but try to rotate them on your signature info.
- Do not speculate when answering a post. Please be precise or don't post at all.
Misinformation could possibly damage other subscribers' careers. When unsure, use the
(IMO) approach - ("in my opinion") OR (IMHO)- "in my HUMBLE opinion".
- Do NOT waste other subscriber's time with questions that you can answer yourself with some minimal RESEARCH. You are a writer-- find ways to answer the simpler questions on your own. When you have exhausted your own resources, then ask the question.
- Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any way, shape or form, and will result in immediate expulsion from the group.
